John was born and raised in Roanoke, VA. Before heading off to college, he achieved the Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America; his Eagle Scout project was geared towards building a training enclosure for Saint Francis Service Dogs in Hollins, VA. In 2018, he graduated from Roanoke College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
In early 2019, he took a leap-of-faith by moving to southern California aiming to cultivate knowledge from a developed cannabis industry. He has a working knowledge of cannabis cultivation, processing, and extraction facilities; as well as prior experience in an accredited analytical testing laboratory that is licensed by the state of California. John has been fully committed to the cannabis industry for over 3 years. When he initially moved to California, he had interest in starting a hydroponic cannabis homegrow. This interest eventually bloomed into a makeshift garage laboratory that he built alongside a fraternity brother. The garage-based laboratory space allowed him to test his homegrown raw cannabis, along with any extracts that were produced.
He is honored to have been given the opportunity to join the Desert Valley Testing family and is excited to expand his knowledge of cannabis and analytics, while also providing patients and recreational users with reliable, reproducible data. When John is not in the lab, he tries to stay busy. He routinely does maintenance on his 4Runner to get it ready for Glamis, Tierra del Sol, & King of the Hammers. He actively mountain bikes with friends in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and explores the southwestern United States.
